The Birthday Celebration

Its Saturday morning and the first birthday celebration is over. Cassie seemed to have a good time! It was a small celebration including us and Uncle Colt and Cooper. Cooper is the son of a friend of ours and Uncle Colt is keeping an eye on him for the weekend so that they could go out of town.

We began the night barbecueing burgers. After dinner, it was pretty late so we proceeded with everything. The kids wanted to do presents first so why not? Cooper and Campbell did most of the opening as Cassidy watched them entranced! She apparently did not want to put down the tennis toy Uncle Colt brought her! Cooper even brought a present for Campbell! That was so sweet of them. They got her a wooden bus pull toy that is also a shape sorter. I have to say she has spent a great deal of time with this toy since opening it! Another favorite is a toy vacuum cleaner. She loves the music it makes. We got this because she gets excited everytime we pull the vacuum out. One of my favorites is the charm bracelet Nana and Papa got her. This is an item that will grow with her over the years! She also got a purse and a doll. The purse is in hopes that she will quit emptying my wallet. Let me tell you, if she gets her hands on my wallet, she begins pulling everything(cards, money, etc) out and if you pull it away from her, she is quite vocal about what she thinks of that!

After the boys finished opening her presents, we got on with the cake. She at first didn't know what to thing but by the end had a great mess going on! I will let the pictures say all for that event!

After cake she went straight to the bathtub and got cleaned off. Dad hosed off the highchair while I hosed her down. I am a bit worried because when all done her face was a bit splotchy where the icing had been. I'm hoping this is not from an allergy. I have to look into what goes into the whipped frosting. Is there milk in it? She's been doing okay with milk I thought. Eggs? Will have to keep an eye on it. Her diapers were quite more frequent after the whipped cream she had on Thursday. After bath, she played briefly with her new toys before going to bed.

Cassidy is 1 today!

Wow! Where has the last year gone?!?! This time last year I was about an hour through the big contractions. It began one whirlwind of a year. Once we figured out Cassidy's stomach issues, watching her grow has been so much fun. Its been amazing watching Campbell grow into such a good big brother too! I thought that this time around I would be a pro and know what was going on but Cassie brought on a whole new set of questions and challenges. It was just as fun this time watching all those firsts!

Cassie still only has 2 teeth. I think the third teeth is starting to cut through. Her hair is slowly growing. She has a bit more than Campbell did at this age! She is crawling and Cruising all over the place. She is standing on her own. Her favorite "word" at the moment is "uh-oh." She loves to play with phones and when she gets one, will put it up to her ear and will say "hi." She is becoming a bit of a climber and have to watch her every minute. Its kind of comical because when Campbell doesn't want her to get something, he will put it in the back corner of his table. As you can see in the picture below, that little trick doesn't quite work anymore! Campbell wasn't quite as adventurous. She loves to eat and is quite vocal when she wants something. AND in the last 2 days she has really been trying to take those first steps. I don't think its going to be long at all. She's getting more and more brave but just doesn't quite have that balance down. She loves "reading" books and like her big brother loves to dance to music

Its been so fun wathching the 2 of them together. When she gets upset, Campbell runs into the kitchen and turns on the music on the fridge Magnets and she often stops crying and starts dancing! Granted, big brother can be a bit rough at times but overall he has been so loving!

Today, they went to the nursery at the club while I went to a client's to work. They through a little party for her! They gave her a balloon and a muffin with Whipped Cream. Ryan go to go in and see her and she apparently thought that was pretty great! Ryan told me he felt like she knew that the celabration was all about her! She loves her balloon!

We will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow. Ryan wanted to do it tomorrow so that it was a little more relaxed with our schedules. We plan to just do dinner and cake and presents. I will try to get pictures of it up over the weekend. I have also uploaded a short video of her pushing her push toy. My camera doesn't record sound and only takes very short clips.

Trouble

I'm sorry, I'm behind on things. Campbell's preschool is closed this week so I'm coping with limited time to get things done. As you can see, Cassidy has begun climbing and is trouble now! Still no walking but she is getting there. She is standing on her own a lot now and pushing her walking toy around. I will try to get it on video one of these days. I'm pretty bummed b/c my camera is doing really bad so I am limited on good pictures these days. Anything in motion is blurry. Hopefully we can budget for a new one one day soon.

Campbell is starting to try new things. I'm not sure but I think it may have some to do with his new Pre-K teacher. He has always been scared of heights on play equipment at the parks. He would never go over the bridges on the equipment alone. He has started going over it and this week started running across it without holding on. Today we were at a different park that had a "climbing wall" that climbed up to my eye level and he climbed up it all on his own!

I smell a dirty diaper so I need to go but I will leave you guys with a picture of my first attempt at a "hairdo" with Cassie! I could use some advice on how you get that little bit of hair in a tiny ponytail with an active baby! I cave up on the rubberband!

A milestone

Just wanted to post real quick that Cassie was just trying to stand on her own! She has been letting go from things for brief moments but she was just trying to go from sitting to standing without holding anything. She would pop up and then plop her butt down! Of course as soon as I reached for the camera to record, she started crawling over to me! Oh well...
