Our Date night in Atlanta!

I forgot about an important night on our trip! On Thursday night, my parents watched the kids so Ryan and I could go out! For those Top Chef fans, we went to Home Restaurant in Buckhead where Richard Blaise, past season finalist is the executive chef. It was nice to go out but I was a bit disappointed in the restaurant. The staff seemed a bit unprofessional and the food was just ok to me. For appetizers/"snack" we had fried green tomatoes and a crab cake. The tomatoes looked like fried cheese sticks and came with what looked like an ice cream that was "frozen ranch dressing" according to our waiter. It was on the same plate as our crab cake and melted into it which was a bit of a bummer because we really enjoyed the crab cake. Our entree came out and I had ordered a Pork Belly dish and Ryan the veal chop. They also bring out fresh farm vegetables with the entrees. The vegetables were good and sadly our favorite part about the entree. After our entree, Ryan finished off the wine while I ordered a dessert which was a moon pie and root beer float. It was good but not wonderful. Ryan had brought our own bottle of wine. A Spanish Granache and it was pretty good. I think this was his favorite part of the meal. While it wasn't a wonderfull meal it gave us the opportunity to try a meal from one of the chefs we routed for on Top Chef.

Our trip to Atlanta Part 2

Some asked what I did with my free time. Honestly, not a whole bunch! I took a shower, drove around Rome and Berry College to check out what had changed, a brief nap and I painted my toenails.

That night we went to see the Rome Braves. Campbell had a good time. He enjoyed the ball park snacks and wanted to get down there and play ball with them. The mascots were right in front of us though and these scared him for a bit and even after he got ok with them from a distance, he always needed to know their location! Aunt Jill bought his first Dippin Dots for him! He is so picky on food appearances that it took quite some time to even try them. When he finally did he of course he didn't stop! I mean what kid doesn't like Dippin Dots!?
Here are some pics from the game!

The next day we drove out to Berry College and took pictures. For those who don't know, Berry is where Ryan and I went to school. I graduated there and Ryan transferred midway to Montana.

Here are some pics from the photo shoot:

After our Berry photo shoot, the kids got to spend some time with Ryan's Granny and PawPaw Gaston:

We got up Wednesday morning and drove to Duluth to meet up with my parents. It was my intention to not jam a bunch of activities in for this visit and spend time relaxing with my family and the kids. I guess I was a bit more interactive with this portion of the visit so I didn't have pics on my camera. I did manage to grab some of the pics on my camera. We went on walks to the park. We kind of let Cassie loose(with someone standing over her of course) on the slide and she had a blast! We took some professional portraits at Portrait Innovations. Here is the link to those shots for anyone who has not seen them:

On the 4th we spent some time at the pool and then my mom and I walked with the kids in their neighborhood 4th parade behind a fire truck. We also went and Campbell got to see fireworks for the first time! One minute he liked them the next he didn't. Overall, I think he enjoyed them as on the drive home he kept pointing out any he saw! Saturday morning, we got up and went to catch our flight. They had changed our flights again so we were a bit nervous about a tight connection in Chicago but fortunately all went fine. I will post pics from this portion of our visit in my next post!
